You can usally take one of the screws out of the hinge across from the drag replace it with alonger screw(21/2") and take up enough slack to relieve the drag

Cracks in drywall over doors are very common due to settlement of the house which occurs over time,retape and coat the tape with drywall mud,don't forget to sand the new mud before you repaint
